Details

We stayed at the Cascade Meadows RV Resort for seven nights in mid-September using our ROD membership for an inexpensive stay. This is a quiet park set in a large meadow with scattered stands of pine. For our stay we had a 50 amp full hookup pull-thru site. The park was not very busy during our stay. While in the area, we took our rig into nearby Bend, Oregon, for maintenance and a few minor repairs. Excellent service! The park had no problem with our breaking camp and returning.

Cost

Our three night stay here was free (included in our ROD membership fee – given how many nights we stayed at ROD resorts this travel season, we averaged about $3/night – not counting the occasional extra vehicle fee). This resort did not charge an extra vehicle fee.

Amenities On Site or Nearby

The campground has basic resort amenities, including full and partial hookup sites, dry tent sites, rental cabins, RV dump station, propane, restrooms and showers, laundry room, horseshoe and sports courts, playground, swimming pool and spa. The park has a nice restaurant, open to the public. Few amenities are available close to the park – markets, gas stations, and restaurants are available nearby in La Pine, while a wider range of shopping and services are available in Bend, Oregon (25 miles).

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 4/5

The campground is easily accessible from Highway US-97 and the lanes throughout the park will easily accommodate large rigs. Once past the paved entrance area, roads in the park are gravel, reasonably well maintained, but rough in some areas and could use some maintenance. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access. RV sites in the park are pull-thru, generous in size and can accommodate large rigs.

Facilities/Amenities – 4/5

As noted, the campground has basic resort amenities, including full and partial hookup sites, dry tent sites, rental cabins, RV dump station, propane, restrooms and showers, laundry room, horseshoe and sports courts, playground, swimming pool and spa. Conveniently, the resort features a nice restaurant on site. The grounds and facilities are clean and well maintained. The restroom and shower facilities are showing their age and could use renovation. The park offers both full and partial hookup sites with 50/30/20 amp electric service. An RV dump station is available.

Site quality – 3/5

Sites are spacious, well-separated, dirt and grass with a picnic table. RV and tent sites are all pull-thru. The park offers both full and partial hookup sites with 50/30/20 amp electric service. Few sites have any shade.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The park is set in a large meadow with a stand of pine trees on part of the property. The park has views of Mount Bachelor, the Three Sisters Mountain Range and Mount Paulina. There is a wildlife viewing area at one side of the park looking out on the adjacent meadows.

Location/Isolation – 4/5

The park is far from any other development, so feels remote and secluded. There is some noise from US-97 and from the nearby rail line, but this is generally a quiet park.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly and has a large enclosed pet run with cleanup bags. The campground is large enough to take a good long walk with your pet.

Overall Rating – 4/5

This is a nice basic campground which we can recommend to use as a base to explore this area of Central Oregon. We would certainly enjoy a stay here on another trip.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a strong 4G Verizon signal at this campground. We did not need to deploy our cellular antenna and booster to improve MiFi hot spot internet access.

Water Quality

The water at this campground moderately hard – we added our water softener to the water filtration stack.
