Details

We stayed at the K/M Resorts – Ocean Breeze Resort for three nights in late-July using our ROD membership for an inexpensive stay. This was a very short stay to fill in a gap in our reservations. This was also a reasonably convenient place from which to pick up my mom at the SEATAC airport on her visit (still a three-hour drive one-way from this site).

This is a quiet park set on a heavily forested property. We had a 30 amp partial hookup back-in site, but had problems with sporadic low voltage and electrical outages. The problem was largely due to a church revival group camped on the same loop as us with many extra electrical devices hooked in and drawing current – since this was an older park, the many campers and extra loads overtaxed the electrical service. We could even out the flaky electrical service by switching on our inverter and balancing load from either shore power or the batteries.

Cost

Our three night stay here was free (included in our ROD membership fee – given how many nights we stayed at ROD resorts this travel season, we averaged about $3/night – not counting the occasional extra vehicle fee).

Amenities On Site or Nearby

The campground has many resort amenities, including partial hookup sites, RV dump stations, restrooms and showers, laundry room, miniature golf course, sports courts, playground, swimming pool and sauna. The park has a nice club house, book and video library, adult lounge and kid’s game room. A few amenities are available close to the park –  markets, gas stations, and restaurants are available nearby in Ocean Shores, while a wider range of shopping and services are available in Aberdeen.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 4/5

The campground is easily accessible from Highway WA-109 and the lanes throughout the park will easily accommodate large rigs. The area around the office and check in gate at the park entrance did, however, feel constricted for a large rig. Roads in the park are well maintained asphalt or gravel. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access, although the gravel roadways might be rough to navigate.

Most RV sites in the park are back-in. Sites are generous in size and can accommodate large rigs.

Facilities/Amenities – 5/5

As noted, the campground offers many resort amenities, including rental cabins, restrooms and showers, laundry room, miniature golf course, sports courts, playground, swimming pool and sauna, club house, book and video library, adult lounge and kid’s game room. The grounds and facilities are clean and well maintained. At least one of the park bath houses was closed and appeared to be under renovation. The park offers only partial hookup water and 30/20 amp electric service sites. RV dump stations are available.

Site quality – 4/5

Sites are spacious, well-separated and well-shaded, dirt and grass with a picnic table and fire ring. Most sites are back-in. The park offers only partial hookup water and 30/20 amp electric service sites. In talking with park staff, it was clear that the 30 amp electrical service is outdated, easily over loaded and could use a major upgrade.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The park is quite scenic with park roadways winding through the forest and sites nestled in the trees. Walking and biking trails through the forest and along a marshy lake and stream give much opportunity to enjoy nature.

Location/Isolation – 4/5

As noted, this is a heavily forested, quiet and secluded park.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly, but does not have any enclosed pet run or cleanup stations. The campground is large enough to take a good long walk with your pet.

Overall Rating – 4/5

This is a very nice campground which we can recommend to use as a base to explore the central Washington coast. We would certainly enjoy a longer stay here on another trip.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a weak to moderate 4G Verizon signal at this campground. We deployed our cellular antenna and booster to improve MiFi hot spot internet access.

Water Quality

The water at this campground tested soft – we did not add our water softener to the water filtration stack.

Nearby attractions

We had little time during our short stay to explore the area.  However, here are a few ideas:

  • Scenic drives along the Washington Coast
  • Visit attractions and restaurants at nearby Ocean Shores
  • Quinault Casino
  • Ocean City State Park
