Site quality – 3/5

Sites are very basic, including full or partial hookups with 50, 30, or 20 amp electric, fire-box and a picnic table. Sites surfaces are gravel and grass. Sites are wide enough to accommodate slide-outs and awnings, but otherwise have little separation between sites and feel cramped. A few sites are more generously sized. Trees throughout the campground provide welcome shade.

Scenic Value – 4/5

Scattered mature cottonwoods, large grassy areas, views of the Little Missouri River and of nearby badlands lend a peaceful, park-like feel to this campground.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

The campground feels rather isolated as it is in river lowlands on the outskirts of Medora and about a half mile from interstate I-94. The campground is generally quiet but receives some road noise from I-94.

Paws Friendliness – 3/5

The park is pet friendly, but does not have any enclosed pet run or cleanup bag stations. The campground is large enough for a decent walk with your pet.

Overall, the Medora Campground is a nice place to stay while travelling through the area or exploring local attractions, like the Theodore Roosevelt National Park or the Medora Musical We enjoyed our stay and would not mind staying here on another visit.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a moderate 4G Verizon signal at this campground. We did not need to deploy our cellular antenna and booster to improve MiFi hot spot internet access. The campground provided WiFi, but we did not use this during our stay.

Water Quality

The water at this campground tested moderately hard – we added our water softener to the water filtration stack.
