Campground Review – Neskowin Creek RV Resort

Neskowin Creek RV Resort

Description

The Neskowin Creek RV Resort is a large and well maintained privately owned park set in a grassy meadow, nestled between forested hills and not far from Neskowin Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The park is big-rig RV and family friendly and is a member of the Coast-To-Coast, Resorts Preferred International (RPI) and Resorts of Distinction (ROD) park networks. The park is a great base from which to explore the scenic north-central Oregon coastal area.

Details

We stayed at the Neskowin Creek RV Resort for one week in early July using our ROD membership for an inexpensive stay. The park was busy during our stay, but peaceful and quiet. We had a 50 amp full hookup pull-thru site and enjoyed our stay here.

Cost

Our seven night stay here was free (included in our ROD membership fee), although we did pay a $2/night 50 amp electrical fee.

Amenities On Site or Nearby

The campground has many amenities, including full or partial-hookups, restrooms and showers, laundry room, exercise room, indoor swimming pool and spa, playground, tennis and basketball courts, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. The park has a nice club house and features many social events and organized activities, such as barbecues and potluck dinners, movie nights, bingo, dances, arts & crafts, fishing derbies and other contests. Few amenities are available close to the park – a market, gas stations, and restaurants are available in Pacific City. A wider range of shopping and services are available further along the coast in Lincoln City or Tillamook.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 4/5

The campground is easily accessible from Highway US-101. The main road through the park will easily accommodate large rigs. Once past paved entrance roads in the park are gravel and have some potholes – the roads could use some maintenance. The campground facilities seem to have provisions for Universal access, although the gravel roadways might be rough to navigate.

The park has both pull-thru and back-in sites. Access to any of these sites should be easy for even the largest rigs.

Facilities/Amenities – 4/5

As noted, the campground offers many amenities, including full or partial-hookups, restrooms and showers, laundry room, exercise room, indoor swimming pool and spa, playground, tennis and basketball courts, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. The grounds and facilities are very clean and well maintained.

Site quality – 3/5

Sites have either full or partial hookups with water and 50/30/20 amp electric service. Sites are gravel, with a grassy area between sites, a picnic table and fire ring. There is little or no shade for the campsites and little separation between sites.

Scenic Value – 4/5

Set in a grassy meadow, nestled between forested hills and  just a short distance from the Pacific Ocean, the campground is quite scenic.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

As noted, the campground is in a large meadow between forested hills and shielded from busy Highway US-101 by tree-lined Neskowin Creek, so it feels rather isolated from the world outside the park. The campground is generally quiet – it is far enough away from Highway US-101 such that road noise is not noticeable.

However, due to the closeness of the RV sites and rows, the feeling of isolation is quickly lost. For us, this is the biggest detraction of the park – it is row after orderly row of closely spaced RV sites in the midst of a meadow – this is a personal preference, it is still a lovely park we wouldn’t mind visiting again.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly, provides cleanup-bag stations throughout the park, and has a large enclosed pet run. The campground is large enough to take a long walk with your pet.

Note that there are many domestic rabbits gone wild in the park. Very cute – kids love them – just watch that your pets don’t get loose to chase all the bunnies.

Overall Rating – 4/5

This is a really nice basic campground which we recommend. We would certainly stay here on another trip.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a strong 4G Verizon signal at this campground. We did not need to deploy our cellular antenna and booster for MiFi hot spot internet access.

Water Quality

The water at this campground tested soft – we did not add our water softener to the water filtration stack.

Nearby attractions

There are many things to see and do in the area around the park.  Here are some suggestions:

  • Neskowin Beach
  • Catch & release fishing in Neskowin Creek
  • Visit the beach at Pacific City, then dine and sample the brews at the Pelican Pub & Brewery
  • Fishing, clamming, crabbing, & surfing are popular local activities
  • Scenic drives along the coast – take the Three Capes Drive
  • Visit Tillamook Air Museum and taste area cheeses at Tillamook Cheese Factory
