Details

We stayed for two weeks at the North American RV Park in late July/early August of 2017. The campground staff were friendly and helpful when we made our reservations and at check-in. The campground was relaxing and made a great base for our day trips in the area. We enjoyed our stay.

Cost

For fourteen nights at a 50 amp full hookup back-in site, we paid about $50 per night, including taxes. The park did not charge fees for pets or an extra vehicle.

Amenities On Site or Nearby

The campground offered basic amenities, including full hookups, camp store, propane, laundry room, WiFi, restrooms and showers. Grocery stores, restaurants, automotive and other services are nearby in Hungry Horse or Columbia Falls. A wider choice of shopping and RV services are available nearby in Whitefish (20 miles) or Kalispell (27 miles).

The campground amenities include full hookups, tent sites, camp store, propane, laundry room, volleyball court, horseshoes, tether-ball, playground, WiFi, guest lounge, rental cabins and yurts, restrooms and showers.

Site quality – 3/5

Sites are basic, including the full or partial hookups with 50/30/20 amp electric. Sites are level, surfaced with gravel, and have a grassy median area with picnic table. Sites are wide enough to accommodate slide-outs and awnings and there is decent separation between sites. Some sites have shade trees.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The campground is has lovely views of nearby forested hills and mountains. The campground itself has a nice park-like atmosphere.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

This campground is quite busy, but doesn’t feel too cramped or crowded. It’s in a great place for enjoying the area around Glacier National Park. Unfortunately, there is much noise from busy US-2 and a nearby rail-line, but this is otherwise a peaceful campground.

Paws Friendliness – 3/5

The campground is pet friendly and has a small enclosed pet run and cleanup stations. The campground is large enough for a decent walk with your pet.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, the North American RV Park is a relaxing place to stay while exploring Glacier National Park and the surrounding area. We would certainly visit again when passing through the area.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a moderate 4G Verizon signal at this campground and did not need our cellular antenna and booster to improve MiFi hot spot internet access. Unfortunately, the Verizon bandwidth was very low, even unusable at times. We tried to use the free campground WiFi several times, but the service was also slow and connection attempts often failed.

Water Quality

The water at this campground tested moderately hard – we added our water softener to the water filtration stack.
