Details

We stayed at the Wine Country RV Resort for one week in early May, 2016. The park is beautifully landscaped, clean and immaculately maintained. The campground is either very young or a recently expanded park, with newly constructed facilities and fresh landscaping. The campground is pet-friendly and provides fenced-in pet runs and access to a nearby pet-friendly vineyard and winery. The campground is reasonably quiet, with little road noise, but some noise from small planes accessing a nearby airport. The park can serve as a convenient base for exploring the scores of wineries in the area or for exploring along the Californian central coast.

Cost

The RV resort rates vary by site size, weekday vs. weekend, and duration of stay. The campground offers weekly and monthly rates. For our week-long stay, we averaged about $61 per night, including tax.

Amenities On Site or Nearby

The park provides laundry, showers, propane service, and a convenience-store with RV supplies, wine and grocery staples. The resort offers Wine country tours and information regarding area attractions. Fuel, food, shopping and other services are conveniently available nearby in Paso Robles.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 5/5

The campground is easily accessible from highway CA-46 via Airport Road. The entrance drive, lanes and sites are wide enough for easy access by the largest rigs. However, several turns at the ends of the loops are tight for larger rigs, depending on how other campers have parked their vehicles. The campsites, sidewalks and facilities are handicapped accessible.

Facilities/Amenities – 5/5

The Wine Country RV Resort provides many top-rate amenities, including: a small convenience store, a heated swimming pool and spas, an activity center with billiards and ping-pong tables, a fitness center, three enclosed area dog parks, propane service, a wine garden and an outdoor entertainment area. Wine country tours are available through the campground office. Events are regularly scheduled at the Wine garden and may include wine tastings, outdoor movie nights, and live entertainment with music and dancing.

Site quality – 4/5

Sites are very good quality and are grouped into Economy, Standard, Deluxe, and Premium categories, based on such factors as site size, surface, and type of hookups. Site surface is either concrete pad or compacted dirt. A variety of sizes in pull-thru and back-in sites are available, including very long pull-thru sites suitable for group camping. Park model vacation rentals are also available. The main detraction to site quality is that there is very little separation between the campsites.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The campground is very nicely landscaped and nestled between a small vineyard and rolling grassy hills, with mature live oak trees scattered throughout the campground and surrounding hills.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

Despite proximity to busy highway CA-46 and Airport Road, the campground receives little road noise. Walls along the rear of the campground and surrounding hedges and vineyards help suppress any road noise. The campground is, however, located near a small airport and may received noise from passing planes. Since there is little separation between sites, conditions can feel quite crowded during busy times.

Paws Friendliness – 5/5

This campground is very paw friendly, providing three fenced-in dog parks, as well as plenty of dog cleanup bag stations. The campground is large enough to give your pet a good long walk around the campground loops. One of the dog runs is large enough to throw a ball or toy to give your dog a good work out. Furthermore, a trail leads from the RV resort and through a four-acre vineyard to the nearby pet-friendly EOS Estate Winery. One drawback is that there is little room to tie out your pet at the campsite.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at the Wine Country RV Resort and highly recommend the park to anyone visiting the Paso Robles area.

Additional info

Internet access

At this campground we  could only receive a weak to moderate Verizon signal for our MiFi hot spot internet access. After deploying our cellular antenna and cradle booster with the MiFi device, we received much stronger Verizon signal and had good internet access. The campground provided free WiFi, but we did not use this during our stay.

Water Quality

The water at this campground tested moderately hard – we added our water softener to the water filtration stack. At times, we could detect a faint sulfur odor to the water.
