Details

We stayed for one-night at the Albuquerque KOA Journey in late March, 2020.

COVID-19 Pandemic Response: Excellent – contactless check-in; staff wearing masks; social distancing; closed/limited facilities; (still early in pandemic) guest masks welcome, but not required.

Cost

For one-night at a 50 amp full hookup paved pull-thru site, we paid about $67 per night including taxes and Value Kard Rewards Discount. There were no additional fees for pets or an extra vehicle.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 5/5

The campground is easily accessible from Interstate I-40 via paved streets. Lanes in the park are wide, well-maintained asphalt. The park has pull-thru and back-in RV sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access.

Facilities/Amenities – 4/5

The park amenities include full or partial hookup 50 or 30 amp RV sites, tent sites, cabin rentals, restrooms, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, cable TV, propane service, camp store, firewood sales, pavilion, enclosed pet runs, playground, mini golf, bike rentals, and seasonal swimming pool/spa/sauna. Facilities are clean and well-maintained.

Site quality – 5/5

RV sites are full or partial hookup with 50 or 30 amp electric, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. Park sites are pull-thru or back-in, paved, clean, and many have shade trees. Deluxe RV patio sites and deluxe cabins are available.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The campground is nicely landscaped and clean, but there is not too much of scenic value in the surrounding neighborhood. There are some nice views of not-too-distant rugged desert mountains, as well as the occasional spectacular desert sunrise/sunset.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

The campground is adjacent to Interstate I-40 so does get road noise. Sites are fair sized and do not feel crowded.

Paws Friendliness – 5/5

The campground is pet friendly, with cleanup stations, several large K9 Kamp enclosed off-leash pet runs, as well as smaller pet enclosures. The campground is large enough for a fair walk with your pet.

Caution – this is a desert environment. Be mindful to provide shade and plenty of water for your pet; watch out for hot ground surfaces; beware of cacti spines/burrs and desert critters.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, the Albuquerque KOA Journey is a convenient and relaxing place to stay while visiting the Albuquerque area. We enjoyed our short stay and would visit another time.
