Description

The Baby Nugget RV Park is a quiet, forested, big-rig friendly campground just off the Alaska Highway, very close to the Cassiar Highway (BC-37) junction and about 14 miles west of Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. Conveniently, a gas station, gift shop, and restaurant, all part of family owned ‘Nugget City’, are at the park entrance. Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 3/5

The campground is just off the Alaska Highway and accessed by a wide gravel lane. Lanes in the campground are well-maintained gravel. The park has both pull-thru and back-in sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have some provisions for Universal access.

Facilities/Amenities – 3/5

The campground offers basic amenities, including partial hookup sites, dry tent sites, dry RV parking, RV dump station, restrooms and free showers, laundromat, coin-op RV wash, and cable TV.

The Nugget City facility at the campground entrance has a gas station, gift shop, rental cabins, and the ‘Wolf It Down’ Restaurant & Bakery. Facilities were clean and in good repair. ‘The Best Little Ore House’ meeting hall is available for group and event rental.

Site quality – 3/5

RV sites have partial (water/electric) hookups, cable TV, and picnic table. Electric service is 50/30 or 30/15 amp. Forested sites are mostly level gravel, with good separation between sites. The campground also has a large area for group, overflow and caravan sites – basically a parking lot with hookups. The campground has back-in and pull-thru sites.

Scenic Value – 3/5

The park is nicely forested, with hiking trails and fishing lakes on the property.

Location/Isolation – 4/5

This is a quiet, forested park that feels isolated.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly, but does not have an enclosed pet run or cleanup bag stations. The park is large enough for a decent walk with your pet.

Overall Rating – 3/5

Overall, the Baby Nugget RV Park is a convenient place to stay while travelling the Alaska or Cassiar Highways. We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return another time.
