Details

We stayed for eleven-nights at the Beachfront RV Park in mid June, 2019. We had originally booked seven-nights but extended our stay due to an RV repair issue. The park manager was friendly and very accommodating when we asked to extend our stay. The park is very basic and is in need of renovations for the main shower and bathhouse, but the location is excellent – right off the beach.

Cost

For eleven-nights at a 30 amp full hookup pull-thru site, we paid about $44 per night, including tax. There were no fees for pets or an extra vehicle.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 3/5

The campground is easily accessible via paved roads. Lanes in the park are paved. The park has pull-thru and back-in RV sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have few, if any, provisions for Universal access.

Facilities/Amenities – 2/5

The campground amenities include full and partial hookup sites, restrooms, and port-a-potties. The main restroom/shower facility is closed. A second small restroom facility was open, but could use renovation. Tent sites are not currently available.

Site quality – 3/5

Sites have full or partial hookups with 30/20 amp electric, water, sewer, cable, WiFi, fire-ring (upon request), and a picnic table. Sites are gravel with paved patios. Sites are narrow and have little separation between sites. A few sites have shade trees.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The campground is bare and utilitarian, but it is set right on the coast. The park has lovely views of sandy beaches, Pacific Ocean, the Chetco River, forested slopes/headlands, marina, and jetty.

Location/Isolation – 4/5

The campground is right on the coast at the mouth of the Chetco River. The park has little vehicle traffic, except for day-use visitors to the beach. Sites are close together and can feel crowded. The campground is generally quiet – the sound of crashing surf and bells of offshore buoys is soothing at night.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly, with cleanup stations but no enclosed pet run. The campground is large enough for a fair walk with your pet and there is easy beach access.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, the Beachfront RV Park is a good place to stay while passing through the area or while enjoying the many outdoor activities and recreational venues of the area. We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly visit another time.

  2. This park is a wreck. They have taken out shower, toilet and laundry room
Also they have put up cement post and taken out ramps to get to beach. No way to even get down on beach.

    • Thanks for the followup, Glenda. Sorry to hear about your poor experience. We noticed during our visit the lack of facilities, but being self-contained this was not an issue for us. For us the spectacular beachfront location made up for lack of facilities. Too bad about now lack of beach access – could removal of the beach access ramps have been in preparation for winter storms?
      Take care and safe travels,
      Jerry

  3. I believe thstvthevtsmps come out in the fall. But,the park is in poor repair. The 50 amp service plugs have been disconnected, the roads are not in good shape. The port has a potential gem with this park,if they would spend some money on it they would attract more campers and increase their bottom line.
