Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 3/5

The campground is easily accessible from highway US-50 via paved streets. Lanes in the park are reasonably well-maintained gravel. The park has mostly pull-thru and a few back-in RV sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have some provisions for Universal access. Position of large boulders at entrance/exit of some pull-thru sites requires caution to avoid hitting with a large rig.

Facilities/Amenities – 4/5

The park amenities include full hookup 50 or 30 amp RV sites, tent sites, cabin rentals, restrooms, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, propane service, firewood sales, camp store, pavilion, playground, mini golf, enclosed pet run, The Daily Planet snack & coffee bar, recreation room, electric car charge station, and seasonal swimming pool. Facilities are clean and reasonably well-maintained, but look tired and could use renovation.

Site quality – 3/5

RV sites are full or partial hookup with 50 or 30 amp electric, Wi-Fi, picnic table and fire ring. Park sites are pull-thru or back-in, level, clean, and many have shade trees. Site surface is gravel with grass or gravel medians. Many RV sites have concrete patios – deluxe patio sites and deluxe cabins are available.

Scenic Value – 3/5

The campground is nicely landscaped, clean, but rather utilitarian looking. Area around the campground is not very scenic.

Location/Isolation – 4/5

The campground is set back far enough from busy US-50 to be fairly quiet. Sites are fair sized and do not feel crowded.

Paws Friendliness – 5/5

The campground is pet friendly, with cleanup stations and a K9 Kamp enclosed off-leash pet run. The campground is large enough for a fair walk with your pet.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, the La Junta KOA Journey is a convenient and relaxing place to stay while passing through the La Junta area. We enjoyed our short stay and would visit another time.
