Campground Review – Northern Experience RV Park – Prince George, British Columbia, Canada

Northern Experience RV Park, Prince George, British Columbia, Canada - 2018Description

The Northern Experience RV Park is a big-rig friendly campground in a quiet, forested, semi-rural area conveniently located about 5 miles from Prince George, BC. Despite being just off the Cariboo Highway, the park has the feel of being deeper in the northern woods. This is a nice and relaxing park from which to explore the many attractions of Prince George and the surrounding area.

Details

We stayed at Northern Experience RV Park for 3 nights in early May, 2018, and again for 3 nights in mid-August, 2018. This is a full service, clean, and well-maintained park.

Due to a particularly cold winter and late spring the water lines to about half the campground were still frozen in the ground during our visit in early May.

Cost

For 3 nights at a 30 amp full hookup pull-thru site in May and in August we paid about $38(CN) and $41(CN) per night, respectively. There were no fees for pets or an extra vehicle.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 3/5

The campground is easily accessible from the Cariboo Highway, BC-97. Lanes in the campground are well-maintained gravel. The park has both pull-thru and back-in sites and can accommodate large rigs.

The campground facilities have few provisions for Universal access – for instance, access to the laundry and bathrooms/showers is via narrow, steep stairs.

Facilities/Amenities – 3/5

The campground offers basic amenities, including full hookup RV sites, tent sites, RV dump station, restrooms, coin-op showers, coin-op laundry, and free WiFi. The park also features a gazebo/shelter common area with picnic tables and fire pit/grill. Facilities were clean and in good repair.

Site quality – 3/5

RV Sites have full hookups with 30/20 amp electric service and a picnic table. Sites are mostly level gravel with shade trees and fair separation between sites. The campground has back-in and pull-thru sites.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The park is nicely forested and is in a quiet, scenic, semi-rural area. A hiking trail winds through a lovely woodland tract behind the campground.

Location/Isolation – 4/5

This forested park is in a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Prince George and feels isolated. The park is generally quiet but does get some highway noise at times.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly, but does not have an enclosed pet run or cleanup bag stations. The park does have a nice walking trail and pet area in a wooded tract behind the campground.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, the Northern Experience RV Park is a lovely place to stay while exploring the many attractions around Prince George, BC. We enjoyed our visit here and would certainly stay another time.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a moderate 4G signal at this campground. Access was roaming, but did not cost extra with our Verizon Unlimited plan. High speed data usage throttled down after 500 Mb per device per day. We used the free campground WiFi service a few times. Internet speeds were generally slow for either campground WiFi or cellular connection.

Water Quality

The campground water tested hard – we added our water softener to the water filtration stack.
