Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 3/5

The campground is just off Interstate I-80 and is easily accessible via paved roads. Lanes in the park are well-maintained asphalt, but somewhat narrow. The park has back-in RV sites and can accommodate large rigs, although some sites are more difficult to back into than others due to placement of landscape elements or guest vehicles. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access, although the office/deli/market does not appear to have an access ramp.

Facilities/Amenities – 4/5

The campground amenities include full hookup sites, restrooms and showers, laundry room, picnic shelter, and playground. The park features a market, deli, gift shop, gas station, as well as propane and firewood sales. The campground also features paddle-board/tube rentals and a river raft tour outfitter. Facilities are clean and well-maintained.

Site quality – 5/5

Sites have full hookups with 50/30/20 or 30/20 amp electric, grill box, and a picnic table. The campground features back-in sites. Sites are paved, with fair separation between sites. Many sites have shade trees.

Scenic Value – 5/5

This nicely landscaped campground is set in the scenic Truckee River Valley, very close to the white-water Truckee River, and has lovely views of the forested slopes of the Sierra mountain peaks.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

The campground is green, forested, and fairly well screened from the nearby interstate. Sites are spacious and do not feel crowded. The campground does receive considerable road noise from Interstate I-80. A rail-line runs through the valley just across the river, but generates little noticeable noise since there are no nearby rail crossings where trains would sound their horns.

Paws Friendliness – 4/5

The campground is pet friendly, with cleanup stations but no enclosed pet run. The campground is large enough for a fair walk with your pet.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Overall, the Truckee River RV Park is a nice place to stay while passing through the area or while enjoying the many outdoor activities and recreational venues of the area. We enjoyed our stay here and would certainly visit another time.
