The Chicken Gold Camp and Outpost, also known as Chicken RV Park and Campground, is a remote and rustic campground set amidst low forested mountains at the “Top of the World”. The park features displays of antique mining equipment, a historical gold dredge, facilities for gold panning and recreational mining, and a whimsical giant metal chicken. The park is an interesting place to stop while travelling the Taylor Highway / Top of the World Highway route or as a base to further explore the area.

Description

The Valdez KOA is a nicely forested campground with magnificent views of snow-mantled and glacier-encrusted mountain peaks on all sides. A stream filled with salmon, in season, flows through the park and wildlife sightings are common, including bears and bald eagles. The campground has the feel of a deep woods frontier outpost. This KOA is conveniently located about 6 miles outside of town and makes for a great base to explore Valdez and the surrounding area.

Grand View Cafe and RV Park is a nice small campground just off the scenic Glenn Highway. Located at the base of Sheep Mountain Dall Sheep Reserve between the Talkeetna and Chugach Mountain Ranges, the park has spectacular views of snowy mountains and deep forested valleys. This is a great park to stop at while traveling between Anchorage and Tok or Valdez, or as a base while exploring the area around Glacier View.

Portage Valley Cabins & RV Park is a lovely forested campground nestled in a glacier-carved valley with magnificent mountain vistas. The park has big-rig friendly water and electric serviced sites, as well as dispersed camping at dry sites around a small lake. The park is conveniently located about an hour from Anchorage and just a few miles off the Seward Highway. The park is near attractions such as Portage Glacier, the town of Whittier, and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This is a great base from which to explore the many attractions of area and of the Kenai Peninsula.

The Cottonwood RV Park is a lovely wilderness campground on the shores of Kluane Lake with the spectacular backdrop of the St. Elias Mountains. This family owned and run campground is big-rig friendly and has a range of sites, including partial service water and electric pull-thru sites, electric service lakeside sites, un-serviced lakeside RV and tent sites, as well as rental cabins. This park is a great place to stop along the ALCAN Highway, about half way between Whitehorse, YT, and Tok, AK.

Description

Heritage RV Park is a big-rig and boat friendly campground on the scenic Homer Spit of Homer, Alaska. The park has spectacular views of Katchemak Bay and of the snow-capped and glacier-mantled mountains across the bay. The park features 1/2 mile of private beach with many shore side campsites. The park is next to a pedestrian/biking path and fishing lagoon and is just a short distance from the Homer small boat harbor, boardwalk, shops and restaurants. This is a great park from which to explore the many attractions of Homer and the surrounding area.
