The Baby Nugget RV Park is a quiet, forested, big-rig friendly campground just off the Alaska Highway, very close to the Cassiar Highway (BC-37) junction and about 14 miles west of Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. Conveniently, a gas station, gift shop, and restaurant, all part of family owned ‘Nugget City’, are at the park entrance. This campground is a good place to stop while traveling the Alaska or Cassier Highways.

This relaxing park is conveniently located near many services and attractions in Whitehorse. The park has an interesting display of historic machinery and vehicles used in constructing the Alaska Highway. This campground makes a great place to stop while traveling the ALCAN and a great base from which to explore the area.

(July 15 – July 22 – Valdez, Alaska) Onward to Valdez

From Glacier View we made our way to Valdez, Alaska. Our route took us along the Glenn and Richardson Highways through spectacularly wild and beautiful country. All around were vistas of jagged mountain ranges or forested, boggy taiga, Patches of roadside flowers added bright splashes of color. Skies were overcast and we ran into occasional showers and heavy rain along the drive.

Alaska – Around Seward and Glacier View

(July 6 – July 15, 2018 – Seward and Glacier View, Alaska)

From Homer we made our way to Seward, Alaska, for a week-long stay. The day we left for Seward started as a glorious sunny day for travel along the Kenai Peninsula. As we drove the Sterling Highway along the coast we had rare clear views of the majestic Illiamna and Mt. Redoubt volcanoes across the Cook Inlet. Further along we enjoyed views of the rushing Kenai/Russian River, as well as the picturesque Kenai, Tern and Upper/Lower Trail lakes. Our course followed glacier-carved valleys between rugged mountains. As we turned on the Seward Highway towards the coast we ran into increasingly heavy overcast and rain.
